Dreher Universal Rowing X-Training Shoe Plate System:

In 2012, we have come out with a new concept for rowing shoe and shoe attachment. The new shoe plate is called the Universal RXT shoe plate and following are its attributes:

Designed for a Personalized Shoe: Can elect to provide shoes separately from the boat, where anyone rowing a boat would have their own pair of shoes that can be worn to and from practice or around as the primary shoe. Instead of having one pair of shoes per seat in each boat used by multiple shifts of people per day, our new system would allow for a proper sized shoe for each athlete and thereby enhance athlete performance and promote better foot hygiene.

Universal RXT Shoe Plate: The plate is angled to give optimum connection at both the catch and the drive but could be offered in a flat plate as well. The user simply places the outside of the shoe into the attachment point on the receptacle and then the shoe easily snaps in the inside as is held with a spring clip. Our system will retain a low cost, snap-in entry, heel tie-down, Velcro Strap that we have offered with our foot stretchers for many years. Upon completion of the rowing workout the, there is a mechanisms that provides for the easy release of the shoes. Note: The weight of RXT Shoe Plate with hardware is only: 254 grams.

Type of Shoes: There are several models of shoes provided by two different shoe companies that provide a selection of stiffness levels, weights and price points that will work with our shoe plate system. (i.e., models of K-Swiss and Adidas running or cross training shoes will work). As we test more shoes we will update the list of available shoes. One of the lightest shoes shown is an Adizero Rush. This adizero Rush Shoe (previously called adizero Feather) by example is only: 458 grams in US size 10 (i.e., with the shoe attachment insert, with a Velcro closure, partially laced shoes and a stainless steel ring tie-down attachment). For many people with, the more substantial and comfortable K-Swiss Tubes Run 100 with a lower price point may be more appealing. These shoes can be custom designed as well, which is a nice feature.

Ordering Procedure: First we must make sure that our new shoe plate is compatible with your foot stretcher. We will need information on your boat model, the hole spacing of your present foot stretcher frame. In some cases, as we do now, we may require you to send your existing foot stretcher to see if we can make the shoe plate work. Once we determine that URXT shoe plate is compatible with you boat, then you would purchase a pair of shoes online at the manufacturer's web site or a discount shoe dealer that might make you a better deal.
